In addition to the Geckobot, you can also build six other models and conduct experiments with suction to learn about air pressure and the mechanical physics of this unique device Ages 8 and up 24-page, full-color manual 176 pieces • 7 models: Build models of an industrial robotic arm with a vacuum suction cup gripper, crawling inch worm, smartphone holder, suction tow truck and car, ellipsograph, and suction gun! •How Does It Work? The battery-powered motor in the Geckobot drives an innovative gear system that produces a rotating motion making the legs move back and forth and up and down, mimicking a real gecko. Two of the feet are touching the wall while the other two feet are lifted off of the wall, in an alternating motion. At the same time, the gear system drives an air pump that creates a vacuum at the two feet touching the wall while blowing air outward at the other two feet. In this way, two of the feet are always holding the model to the wall, while the other two feet are pushing off and stepping forward. • The Models: In addition to the Geckobot, kids can build six other models: an inch worm that really crawls, an industrial robotic arm that can lift using a vacuum suction cup gripper, a smartphone holder that uses suction to hold your phone in place, a tow truck that can pull a small car, a suction gun that will pick up objects just out of reach, and an ellipsograph that can draw a perfect ellipse on a piece of paper! •The Manual: The full-color, 24-page illustrated manual provides detailed step-by-step instructions for building the 7 models included in the kit.
