Without a rock solid pump that can take the rpm and output the proper flow lap after lap, you’re going to be fighting the steering wheel and fatigue, putting you at the back of the pack instead of the winner’s circle. Ensuring you have what it takes to finish the race is more than just a few critical parts. It is the sum of all your race car’s parts, because if one small piece fails it will end your racing night early and the only good thing to come of it will be beating the traffic when you leave the race track early. The power steering system is just as important as your suspension setup or your cooling system, as they all work together to keep you on track until the race end. Our GM Type II power steering pump is a high quality cast aluminum race pump that comes pre-valved to provide the best assist at the race rpms the typical oval track car sees come race night. The pump’s flow requires a minimum of 1,000 rpm engine speed to drive the pre-installed 6-inch V-groove pulley for 2.0 gallons per minute (gpm) of flow at just over 1,000 psi. The GM power steering pump is capable of up to 4 gpm at 1,400 psi depending upon the rest of your power steering system. Max output is 1,600 psi at 8,000 rpm. Our aluminum GM Type 2 power steering pump will mount in any Type 2 bracket system you may be running and comes with an AN6 outlet fitting preinstalled. The inlet side of the pump is available with an AN8 inlet fitting preinstalled or in an AN10 inlet configuration as well.
