This is a Hammarlund HXL-One linear amplifer. From an estate. Covers 80, 40, 20, 15 and 10 meters. Has some scratches along the trim ring however is in very good overall condition. Upon receiving it I did a visual inspection. A 2.5mH rf choke was burnt and did not register on my LCR meter. I replaced the choke with another 2.5mH choke with a higher current handling capacity, carefully cleaned the relay contacts and controls and then powered the amplifier up slowly with a variac with no tubes installed. High voltage checked ok, no evidence of arcing or shorting. I installed the tubes and starting with 5 watts input into a 1kw dummy load/wattmeter and a foot switch to activate the relay circuit, I tuned up the amplifier on each band, using the autotuner in my FT-991A to ensure a good match between the radio and amplifier. Increasing the power to 80 watts I was able to get 600+ watts out on all bands. That is the extent of my testing. Photos 7 & 8 show the bottom of the amplifier with the burnt RF choke and photos 9 & 10 show the bottom of the amplifier after installing the replacement choke. Meter in photo #5 is to demonstrate power output, it is not included in the auction. Please note: This is an amateur HF amplifier NOT a CB amplifier and not designed for use on 11 meters to illegally boost the power output on that band. Questions asking if this amplifier will work or can be modified to work on 11 meters will not be answered. I am experienced packing large heavy items and will pack this item to ensure safe arrival at the winning bidders location. I am an extra class amateur operator.
