Slocomb No. 25 0-1″ Micrometer – FREE SHIPPING (#900-471)) Click images to enlarge Description Offered is a J.T. Slocomb 0-1” micrometer caliper – No. 25. Decimal equivalents are stamped on the thimble. Not sure of the age of this micrometer but it was offered in their 1940 catalog. This micrometer frame is made of an enameled forged steel. John Tibbets Slocomb established his company in Providence, Rhode Island in 1891. He had previously been employed by Brown & Sharpe. The company’s first micrometer came on the market in 1893, with the boast “the longest-lived micrometer that can be bought.” Dimension/size – this micrometer is about 4 3/8” long in the closed position and is about 2” wide. It weighs about 4.5 ounces. Condition – this micrometer is in very good to excellent used condition. Any purple tint in the photos is a reflection from the camera.
